The day, which started bright (sun never sets) and early (at least for some jet lagged travelers), was filled with so many incredible memories for all of us. Then we made our way to the tree planting: we split off inAdd Newto pairs and planted four different trees on a mountain called Ulfarsfell. We planted 367 trees in total amongst our group. The hot dogs, which were an Icelandic speciality, were made with lamb and had a unique blend of fried union, mustard, and mystery sauce. Iconic. Then we all went to the rainbow road and explored Iglesia Hallgrímskirkja and listened to the bells. When we split up into smaller groups to explore the city, everyone had a different yet equally enchanting experience. Top places to be were the Baka-baka bakery, Icewear stores, the Punk Rock music museum, the city museum, and the live soccer game in the main square. We met back up with the group and went to eat at the food hall which had diverse options amongst traditional Icelandic food. Finally we headed to the Harpa to watch the Viking Sagas, the mythological center of Icelandic culture, which was very funny and gave us insight into Iceland history. All in all, successful second day in Iceland full of scenery, culture, laughs, and smiles.
