We made it to Breiðavík

This post features student writing.

We started our day off very early; from 6 to 6:45 am we were packing our bags and preparing for the travel day ahead of us. After a short bus ride, we arrived at a bakery to pick up chocolate croissants, blue/pink donuts, and different kinds of Icelandic breads to fill us up for breakfast. Once we were back on the bus, we drove onto the ferry and spent the next three hours looking out over the deck, reading, or playing cards.

We started the day in our new destination by going to a geothermal hot spring and pool. It was right next to the ocean and gave us the relaxation we needed after such a long trip. In addition to the pool and spring, most of us chose to adventure into the ocean and brave the cold water. Even though we were being attacked by birds on the short walk there, the plunge in the fresh water was worth the small struggle.

After yet another bus ride, we arrived at where we were staying and settled in before going down to the nearby beach. We played frisbee, soccer, and strolled down the beach to marvel at the ever climbing cliffs. When it became dinner time, we all sat together and ate arctic char, chicken, or lamb. Finally, some played cards or Spoons, while others read, talked, or continued work on their projects. The day was very simple, but I think we can speak for everyone in saying that every minute in Iceland is one worth remembering!
